Composer

Georgina’s work is diverse and far ranging, often exploring everything from traditional and contemporary classical styles, to sound design, theatre scores, spoken word and electroacoustic composition. She is particularly interested in combining acoustic elements with spoken word, ‘found’ sound, field recording and archival material; creating immersive soundscape and atmosphere inspired by people and place, story and landscape. Georgina has had works performed by members of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Red Note Ensemble and Any Enemy. Her music has been played at Aberdeen’s soundfestival and broadcast on the BBC Radio 3 New Music Show. She is currently a mentee on the Scottish Chamber Orchestra composers ‘New Stories’ scheme for emerging female composers.

During her time at The University of Edinburgh, she studied composition with Dr Gareth Williams and Pippa Murphy. In 2019, Georgina curated and performed the music for Miss Lindsay’s Secret, a theatre show premiered at the Scottish International Storytelling Festival. Based on story found in the hills of Glenesk, the show incorporates music, drama and archival material. As both composer and performer, Georgina’s music combines self-composed folk tunes, accompaniment, shruti box, archival material and live sewing machine.
